Long-term effects of elastic glue in lightweight timber constructions

چکیده

The effect of using elastic glue in between a timber construction’s two floor layers – gypsum board and particle board – was investigated. In a new timber based building, the impact sound insulation was reduced by 2 dB when elastic glue was introduced in the production. To find out the long-term effects, six different elastic glues was involved in a laboratory test in which layers of floor plaster board and particle board, 0.5x0.6m, were glued together. The test has so far been running for two years. A majority of the glues showed significant reduction in modal damping ratio after a couple of months while a couple of them, to high extent, have maintained their properties over time.

A new building acoustical concept for lightweight timber frame constructions

In this paper, a new building concept for multi-family lightweight timber frame housing is proposed. This concept combines party walls, floors and façade elements ensuring comfort levels equal or better than currently encountered in typical Belgian heavy constructions. Low frequency behaviour and prefabrication potential were the key points in the design process of the new wall and floor types....

Structural Health Monitoring of Glued Laminated Timber with a Novel Air-coupled Ultrasound Method

Recent years have witnessed an increased use of glued timber products in construction, due to their highlights in versatility and sustainability. It is therefore a demanding necessity to develop non-destructive integrity assessment methods for structural health monitoring of timber constructions, both during production and utilization. Particularly, the integrity and load bearing capacity of th...

Combined long-term effects of variable tree regeneration and timber management on forest songbirds and timber production

Please cite this article in press as: Millington, J songbirds and timber production. Forest Ecol. The structure of forest stands is an important determinant of habitat use by songbirds, including species of conservation concern. In this paper, we investigate the combined long-term impacts of variable tree regeneration and timber management on stand structure, songbird occupancy probabilities, a...
